  • The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on UK-Israel has produced an invaluable, if harrowing, report. Focusing on the two days 7-8 October 2023, it meticulously documents the grisly fates of the 1,182 people killed by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In view of the speed and cynicism with which these organizations and their supporters sought to deny the massacre, the APPG has performed a vital service by providing such an irrefutable record of the terrorists' crimes of homicide, rape, kidnapping and torture. As the report notes, this was "the largest single massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust." Those who wish to understand the repulsive, pathological nature of anti-Semitism should read the report. Those who doubt the truly evil character of Hamas and PIJ must read it.

  • We have seen a rise in antisemitism since October 7th. On streets across Britain, weekly marches have spewed modern-day hatred of the Jews, often under the guise of ‘anti-Zionism’. Too many are still deliberately distorting the events of that terrible day, which is why this factual record is an important reminder of what actually happened. As this report makes clear, it was a highly coordinated massacre of the Jewish people, including eighteen British nationals, by terrorists. I have personally heard horrific stories from parents whose children were stolen from them, and from first responders who witnessed sexual violence against women and girls.   • My Lords, as we speak, the APPG on UK-Israel is launching the 7 October Parliamentary Commission Report, chaired by the noble Lord, Lord Roberts of Belgravia. That report systematically documents the appalling abuses of that day—the rapes, the mutilations and the slaughter. In the midst of this terrible situation, there is one incontrovertible truism: Hamas is still holding dozens of those hostages who they abducted on that day and who have now been in captivity for well over a year.

This moving tribute follows the 311 previous pages which record in thus-far unparalleled scrutiny and detail, the atrocities committed by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorists on that dark day. It reflects on how the attack was premeditated, and designed to kill and kidnap, rape and mutilate, murder and maim as many innocent people as possible. This independent and brutally honest report by the UK’s 7 October Parliamentary Commission Report, chaired by the renowned historian Lord Roberts, is not only a vital record for history, but a must-read for all. I welcome and greatly appreciate this historic work, and hope and pray that the final chapter in this dark period may soon be written with the return of all our sisters and brothers held in brutal captivity, and the safe return of all our citizens to their homes.
